Goal of
Milford Planning Commission is to guide development in such a manner that allows
for new residents to enjoy the physical and human atmosphere of living in the
City of Milford, without changing the atmosphere to such a degree that its
appeal is lost. To that end, new development of residential, commercial, or
other property will be encouraged which enhances rather than destroys the towns
appeal.
Objectives:
1. Promote a living environment that is safe and
pleasant for individuals and families who choose to live in.
2. Maintain current housing and neighborhoods and
guide future residential development in a manner which enhances the community.
3. Enhance economic resources and opportunities
by encouraging commercial and/or Institutional development which is compatible
with the semi-rural residential nature of the city.
4. Provide for efficient traffic circulation that
minimizes traffic volumes on residential streets and provide non-motorized
transportation/recreation corridors.
5. Continue to provide for the necessary
infrastructure such as water, sewer, and drainage necessary for in the city.
6. Provide facilities which allow for needed
community services.
7. Enhance the unique beauty, visual and
aesthetic qualities of the community.
The Planning Commission consists of seven Milford
residents, appointed by the Mayor, who review and approve or disapprove project
plans and decide on all applications for Conditional Use Permits, among other
duties. The Planning Commission meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:30
P.M. in the city building.
The Committee shall review and make design
recommendations regarding the external design of buildings and site plans for
all proposed new buildings, structures, and uses which are subject to project
